5 Mile Road Race

Long Eaton Running Club organises a 5 mile road race each year. In 2008 the race will be at 10:00am on the 15th June.

The race starts from West Park Leisure Centre, off Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton. The following map shows the course approximately. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=907349 There will be water available at about half way. There is a large car park, changing, showers and lockers.
The fun run starts at 9.20 am. If you are doing the 5 miler you may accompany your children or partner free of charge but please do not cross the finish line with them as it may confuse our results. The course is about 2 miles and entries are only accepted on the day - please make sure you register early and before 9.10. Entry for the fun run is £ 2.00 and there will be medals awarded
You can enter online at Runners World up to 4 days before the race. This costs 75p more than by post but saves you postage and envelopes. Cost £6.75/ £8.75

You can enter the 5 mile race on the day, and you will be eligible for prizes. The race limit is unlikely to be reached but please enter before 9.40 so that we can process the entries for the results. After the race the results will be put up on our web site www.longeatonrunningclub.com as soon as possible. Entry on the day costs £7.00 for affiliated runners and £9.00 for non-affiliated

All finishers receive a t-shirt, of the size requested on the entry form.

Along the course please keep to the left and follow any marshal’s or police instructions. Make sure that your number is pinned to the front of your vest and clearly visible to the recorders in the entry funnel.

Spot prizes will be awarded afterwards to entrants in either race. Please place your number with your name on the back in the bin provided in the main hall to be eligible. Spot prizes will be drawn preceding the prize giving ceremony.

In the main hall there will also be a display of old race reports and results from the 22 years of Long Eaton RC. You may enjoy browsing through them as they will include old London Marathon results as well as local races. Please treat them with care as they are often the only copies we have.

We will also have on sale 20th anniversary t-shirts with the names of all past and present members of LERC on the back and commemorative mugs.

The following prizes will be awarded:
5 mile race:
Individual Senior Men and Ladies £100, £50, £30.
Male 1st vet in the categories V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65, V70, V75, V80
Female 1st vet in the categories V35, V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65, V70, V75

The Jim Stevenson trophies will be awarded to the first male finisher over 65 and the first female finisher over 60.

There is also £50 for beating the course records, currently;

Team Prizes;
Male team of 4, first Senior team and first Vet team
Female team of 3, first Senior team and first Vet team
Runners will only be eligible for one team prize. A vet runner may appear in a senior team but can not then be eligible for their club’s vet team.
