Was Runner Of The Month for

Oct-24
This month’s winner has shown tremendous resilience and determination to pursue the goal of completing her first marathon. The marathon takes a commitment to training, together with mental and physical stamina, so not an event that you want to do if you’re suffering with injury. This runner not only struggled with a leg injury but also broke her foot in the lead up to the marathon. Undeterred, she trained as hard as she was able, whilst raising valuable funds for a hospice that supports a close family member.

She represented the club at the North Midlands cross country race at Markeaton park and ran a leg (as a two-person team) in the British fell Relays at Appletreewick in the Yorkshire Dales. She successfully completed her first marathon at Chester dressed as Fred Flintstone with her partner in crime, Rachel dressed as Wilma. It gives me great pleasure to award this month’s runner of the month to Amy Higgs!

As always, there have been lots of you doing some tremendous running and achieving personal victories. In no particular order they are;

Caleb Deakin, Mike Bland, Sarah Semmens, Ben Plummer, Kirsty Youngs and Mark Lay.
As well as Amy’s marathon achievement, we had Nick Dennis and Mike Bland both get PB’s at Chester, and Pete Mills and Anthony Hatswell took on the marathon major in Chicago, where Pete also got a PB!

Congratulations to all of you that helped to organise, volunteer and run at the BMAF race. A fabulously hosted event and the cake and soup stall raised £575!
