Congratulations to Sarah, a new member joining us for 2016 with a series of personal bests and team placings achieved at The Run and Trent 5. Setting pbs at the Derby 10k, Newstead Abbey 5k and the Ramathon. The with some great placings as 2nd lady at Trent 5 and 2nd age cat at The Run. We wish Sarah continued success in future running events.

February Runner of the Month - Sarah Semmens
A rare repeat name for Runner of the Month, but it’s been 6 years and Sarah’s achievements this month have been that exceptional, we just can’t let it pass by!
Sarah’s essentially hit the purplest of purple patches and set a PB at basically every event within a month.
Impressive for anyone, but ridiculous given Sarah’s been one of our best performing ladies for years and is now in what she’d describe herself as the ‘old bird’ category.
Oh and of course, the medical scare that nearly saw her have to give up running completely.
Starting with her 5 mile time at Alsager, a 30:32 PB clocking saw her move up to 3rd on the LERC all time list and rank her 6th V40 in the UK this year.
Moving to parkrun, without overly meaning to and looking in complete control (I know as she floated by when lapping me!) she set a time of 18:52, to again go 3rd on the LERC all-time list and currently be sat 17th V40 in the UK.
Finally, at the Masters HM Championships at Wokingham, another phenomenal PB (9 minutes off) came of 1:23:56. This saw her place 8th on the day, not that far off earning an England vest! This time is the 4th on the LERC all time time and whilst the V40 ranking has not been updated yet, you can almost guarantee that’ll be another top ranking attained. Worth noting as well that within this race… Sarah also ran through 10k in what would have been a PB – so there’s probably a few more PB’s to come over the shorter distances.
