Was Runner Of The Month for

Another impressive month across LERC land, which saw us pick up county & North Mids XC medals, the RunDerby Series top club trophy, as well as dishing out our own league awards. We took on cross country, road and fell races; as well as helping a new wave of couch to 5k on their running journey – with 60+ still going strong!

There were some fabulous individual performances too and one man who epitomises everything great about the club at the minute, is Dan Hawley. He’s notched up 7 races during the month, including a 5k PB on the road at the Dave Denton series (February’s is a Winter League race!), a parkrun PB without realising or meaning to and led our Vet men’s team to the aforementioned North Mids XC title, finishing as our first man at every event and also claiming 2nd Vet overall – a fine achievement!

Not content with that, Dan also doubled up for the second month running, turning out and scoring a great 17th for the men’s side at the BDL/Derby Runner XC, to be an integral part of the leading team once more.

Alongside all this, Dan also went along to the Winter League race at Sherwood Pines parkrun, finishing in a great 2nd place and ensuring that he not only stayed at the top of the mens table, but also has more races and points than anyone across the club!

Whilst this has been a great January for Dan, it’s also well worth mentioning that he has been a strong contender and discussed by the captains when choosing the monthly award, for at least 4 of the last 5 months, with various PB’s and great results on the cross country circuit. We’re thrilled Dan is having such a great year, especially when it was not too long ago he suffered quite a bad injury that kept him out for a long period. Keep it up Dan, we look forward to seeing what else you can do this year!
