uly Runner of the Month - Mario Rocchelli
A man who has been around forever (Jan 2007 his first result!) and doing everything that comes up - fell, x country, parkrun, league races... he's there. Usually darting off at the front like Marcell Jacobs, with his phone in one hand ready to snap others that pass him, but not this month!
At the Black Rocks Fell race, in our Summer League, there was no LERC vests that passed him and this wasn't down to Chiellini inspired skullduggery. Mario was comfortably our number one, putting the experience of 69 previous fell races to good use, to get his 150 points.
Later in the month, Mario got the rewards for some harder and more focused training, to smash a 5k PB at Long Eaton parkrun - no mean feat for someone that's been running competitively for 14 years! His time of 17:35 can give inspiration to all of us.
What's more is that Mario has not only been helping himself with his focused training, but has also been offering to help others and leading the weekly track sessions over at Bramcote track, which have been well attended and I'm sure we'll see more PB's coming in because of that.
